God Changes Us

Philippians 4:13, 19

I can do all things through Him (Christ) who strengthens me.

When I was a new Christian and just married to my husband, I realized that he wasn't the man I thought he was; his bad habits were much more of his life than he had let on before our nuptials.

So I prayed and asked God to change him into the husband I thought I wanted him to be. Then I considered the situation, and remembered that God was sovereign and had led me to this man; so I asked God to change me, to be the wife who could love him and live with him just as he was.

And God changed me.

A year later we moved cross-country, and God used that move and the love for my husband that God gave me to draw him to Himself, and that's when God began to change him, too. So God answered both of my prayers.

And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

When I did all things in His power and trusted God to lead, then I found that all my needs were, and are being, met, not only my basic needs, but so much more, according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus, very generously.

Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
