To Forgive

Luke 17:3-4

So watch yourselves! If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance, forgive. Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.

So if they wrong me, I am to let them know how they have offended me; and if I wrong them, I am to ask their forgiveness. Even if I am offended by their constant or repeated, "I'm sorry!" for the same repeated offense, I am to still forgive.

I do not forgive for their sake, because they asked forgiveness; I am to forgive for my own heart's healing, even if they don't ask for forgiveness. To forgive is not to trust--trust regained must be earned. But I must not keep beating myself up for their offences, I must forgive, and let it go.

Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
