We've seen that King Jesus has returned to this planet just as He said He would, and how He first allowed all the evil to run rampant; then He cleansed the whole Earth and rebuilt cities and nations all over the world to rule and reign through a thousand years of the Golden Age for humanity.
There is not much written about this thousand years, because nothing will happen that is newsworthy for an historical record. Whenever anyone even contemplates doing something that would mar the paradise, Lord Jesus our King will take care of it before any harm is done. So, we won't even need to lock our doors!
(7) When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison,
Most of the people living at that time will have known no other government than the perfect, righteous paradise they have. So they really don't have a choice whether they want to receive this goodness.
(8) and will come out to deceive the nations
Because all the nations of people have known no other world, they don't appreciate the paradise they've had, and want to believe there's something better.
which are in the four corners of the Earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore.
The four corners of the Earth would include the whole world. Gog represents the human leaders of the nations, and Magog is the lands where the nations are. The number of people that they gather in their army, like the sand of the seashore, shows how fruitful and prosperous and healthy the population of the world is after a thousand years of perfect government.
(9) And they came up on the broad plain of the Earth
Remember that the whole-earth earthquake has leveled all the mountains, and the only raised ground is Jerusalem, the seat of government.
and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city,
They are so deceived that they think that they can overcome the Lord God, Creator of all that exists! Their innumerable numbers have completely surrounded the city of King Jesus, thinking to sack it.
and fire came down from Heaven and devoured them.
And this "fire" is the exploding of the whole planet Earth, as described by Peter when he writes that,
By His word the present heavens and Earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
For the Day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the Earth and its works will be burned up (II Peter 3: 7, 10).So the Earth will explode, the Universe will implode, all the way back to the infinitesimal point of super-heavy matter, to undergo the "Big Bang" for a second time (if that's how God did it before, and if it is a second or a second thousandth time), to form the New Heaven (universe) and New Earth (planet).
(10) And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also;
This Lake of Fire is apparently the final state of all that is imperfect, damaged, evil, sinful. Everything that is not able to withstand the intense, pure holiness of our God. And the beast and the false prophet were cast into it a thousand years ago, and they are still there, in the present tense.
and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Beings who refuse the good will always suffer, because they have turned away from what could heal them. The only thing left for them is torment, at their own choice.
O my Father, please send out Your children into all the world, so that every living person will be exposed to Your love, and have the opportunity to choose to accept Your most gracious and generous gift of salvation and rescue and full redemption through Your Son.
And every eye shall see, every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that Jesus is our Christ, the Lord God Almighty, sovereign King over all Creation; to the everlasting glory of Almighty God the Father, for ever and ever. Amen.
Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus!
