Our Words

Ecclesiastes 5:4-6

When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow. It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it. Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not protest to the temple messenger, "My vow was a mistake." Why should God be angry at what you say and destroy the work of your hands?

This regards our words, what we say. We always need to pay attention to what we say we will do, and always do what we say we will do. Being true to our words is very important to God. It used to be that a man was true to his word and a handshake was binding. Today, we have to have a written and signed contract to be considered binding. So now we need to be especially careful of our words: God still weighs our words and expects us to be faithful. If we are not, if we carelessly say we will do something, and then forget about it, God remembers. If you find that God has been destroying the work of your hands, maybe you could examine what you have promised in the past to see if you have done what you said you would.

Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
